Softbank 「Softbank Winter Cup 2019」
EVENT
Softbank offered a new viewing experience at the final of the High School Basketball tournament (‘WinterCup 2019’) using 5G and other cutting edge technologies. The opening event of the finals featured a performance from idol group ‘Last Idol,’ that was recorded and broadcast as a SwipeVideo. The project also featured another world’s first, as the performance was recorded simultaneously using both front and rear cameras featuring commentary from different group members.
10 group members of Last Idol simultaneously shot a video of the opening performance at the final of the WinterCup 2019, that was released exclusively as a multi-angle SwipeVideo on the Softbank website ‘Basket Live.’ Last Idol is a music group produced by renowned producer Yasushi Akimoto that was formed through an audition reality show produced by TV Asahi in 2017. The performance of the main group was filmed by 10 other members of the band surrounding the main unit. Using both front and rear cameras of their smartphones, the 10 members were able to shoot the performance whilst simultaneously giving a running commentary of the performance via the ‘selfie’ camera. The finished SwipeVideo allowed the user to freely choose between the 10 different angles.
